Dubai cook killed on his birthday by party guest

An Indian cook was killed in Dubai on his birthday by one of his guests after the victim abused the guest for not bringing his brother along for the party.

The victim, AS, had invited friends to his birthday party in his house on December 16.  About ten people attended the party during which they consumed alcohol. 

“After some time, all guests left except for three including the accused SJ,” RS, 35, Indian waiter and the victim’s roommate, told investigators.

"The victim blamed SJ as the latter's brother had not turned up for the party.  Then he abused the brother and his parents. SJ left the house angry. He returned after about 10 minutes holding a big knife with which he stabbed the victim in his belly in front of the three of us.

“I tried to prevent him from stabbing him again but he resisted me and asked me to let him kill him. While I was trying to hold him, we both fell to the ground and my thumb got hurt. The other two intervened and caught the attacker. I rushed out to call for an ambulance. The victim was on the floor bleeding from his belly on the doorsteps of the house,” RS told investigators.

SK, 43, Indian worker, told investigator that he saw the victim standing at the doorsteps of his house.

“He was bleeding intensively at the door steps and parts of his internal organs had come out of a big wound in his belly,” said SK who rushed to the third floor house of the victim when he heard a big noise.

“In a few seconds, he fell unconscious. Inside the flat, two men were lying on a worker who was holding a big kitchen knife in his hand.

“The two men asked me to get the knife out of the man’s hand. I did that and wrapped it in a piece of cloth, put it on the table and called the police,” SK told investigators.

The forensics department  reported that the victim had sustained a fatal stab in the belly and another one in the left side of his chest.
SJ is accused of premeditatedly killing his co-worker besides consuming alcohol.

The court will reconvene on June 2.
