A Yemeni sergeant allegedly stole Dh50 from a bag in a car that was involved in a road accident, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
A compatriot policeman had asked the operations room for support to investigate a major road accident near the World Trade Centre tunnel on Sheikh Rashid Street. Ten minutes later a support patrol arrived and SF started regulating traffic on the street.
“It was decided to move the car that caused the accident with the help of a recovery vehicle. So my colleague and I started searching the car and we found a green sports bag. We opened the bag to list the things in it, and while we were doing so, SF rushed to open the bag , put his hand in it and then put his hand in his pocket. I asked him to take out what he had put in his pocket but he refused. While driving him to the police station, he asked not to reveal what he did. He had taken Dh50 from the sports bag,” testified MA, 28.
His colleague MM, 23, Emirati, repeated the same testimony.
SF, 55, was referred to the Court accused of theft.
