Dubai’s Police arrested an Asian man who killed a woman of the same nationality in 2014 and fled the emirate before returning to work in another Gulf country with a forged passport, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Police had identified the killer after the body of the 35-year-old woman was found by an Arab construction worker in a remote sandy area in January 2014.

After discovering that he had fled the emirate, they started procedures to arrest him through the Interpol on murder charges, according to Emarat Al Youm daily.

Police then received information that the suspect has just returned to work in another Gulf country with a fake passport.

“After coordinating with the authorities of that Gulf country, the killer was arrested and handed over to police in Dubai,” the paper said.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, telling police that he strangled the woman after she demanded Dh500 for sleeping with him.

“He said that he gave her Dh200 but she threatened to dump him and sleep with another man. He said that he got mad and decided to strangle her with her head cover.”
