Dubai Police help foil six drug smuggling operations in Gulf

In co-operation with the UAE Ministry of the Interior, Dubai Police have helped to foil six recent drug smuggling attempts, four in Oman, one in Bahrain and one in Dubai.

Major General Abdul Jalil Al Asmoa, director of Dubai’s Anti-Narcotics Department, said three Asian women and an African were arrested at Muscat Airport.  410 grammes of cocaine was seized. Two women had concealed drugs in capsules in their stomachs.

The third accused woman had hidden six packets of cocaine weighing about a kilo in her handbag.

The arrested African was trying to smuggle in 3.490 kg of cocaine in a shipment of 52 cans of deodorant.

Dubai police also helped to arrest at Manama Airport in Bahrain an Asian who was trying to bring in 76 capsules of heroin hidden in his stomach.

At Dubai Airport, a man coming from Pakistan was arrested for trying to smuggle in 71 capsules heroin weighing 513 grammes hidden inside his stomach.
