Dubai school's woman bus conductor stabbed to death

A woman bus conductor working for a leading Indian school in Dubai was stabbed to death on Thursday morning in front of the gate of the school.

The 35-year-old Indian woman called Sonia was stabbed several times by a man, suspected to be her estranged husband called Ranjit causing her death on the spot.

The man then tried to kill himself by cutting the veins of his arms with the same blood soaked knife.

Dubai police found the woman lying in a pool of blood in front of the school. Her injured attacker lay close to her. He was taken to hospital by the police and her body was taken to the morgue.

Sources in the New Model Indian School in Garhoud said the woman bus conductor was returning to school after dropping students at around 11am.

“She came to work and was busy dropping students in the morning. After she returned from the first bus trip, she was about to enter a bus for her second trip when a man approached her after which an argument followed. Then he took out a knife and stabbed her on the chest several times and tried to slit her throat with the knife. She was bleeding profusely and died there,” said a source in the school.

The woman, who is believed to hail from Varkala in the southern Indian state of Kerala, was living separately from her husband, the suspected killer.

The incident took place after the students in her bus had gone inside their class room. The couple had two children, according to sources, who live back home in Kerala.

The school confirmed the bus conductor’s death but did not give more details about the incident.

The injured husband and murdered wife used to quarrel quite often, though they were living separately in the UAE. According to sources, the couple  came to the UAE only about a year ago after their business back home ended up in losses.  Earlier also the husband used to beat her up, the source added.

“The incident happened in front of school students, who were coming to the school in the morning.
