Dubai’s authorities seized more than one million dangerous firework items in a raid on a store in the city, the press reported on Thursday.

Inspectors from the Department of Economic Development (DED) and the police raided the warehouse in Ras Al Khour after watching it during the previous days.

The stuff has a street value of around Dh10 million and was imported to be sold for the fasting month of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, they said.

“These are banned items as they are considered very dangerous…the raid also resulted in the seizure of more than one million fake products including mobile phone batteries, chargers, and watches of famous brands,” said Ibrahim Bahzad, director of the intellectual property at DED.
