Dubai trial on theft, prostitution charges

Dubai Criminal Court is hearing a case of three Asians – a woman and two men – wherein one of the men is accused of having consensual sex with the woman and robbing her jewellery and mobile phones after she allegedly threatened to post his pictures online.

The woman reported that the men entered her house and stole jewellery worth Dh5,500; Dh2,500 in cash and two mobile phones after threatening her at knifepoint. She claimed that the door was open as she was collecting goods that she had ordered from a nearby supermarket.

Upon arrest, one of the men admitted to engaging with the woman several times and alleged that she charged Dh100 for her services.

Public Prosecution charged the two men of robbing the woman under threat and one of the men with also having consensual sex.

The woman is charged for working as a prostitute.

The court is adjourned for October 28.
