European convict to be extradited home

The UAE’s top court has rejected an appeal by a European convict and decided to extradite him to his home country, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The man was sought by his country on blackmail charges that involve prison term of up to seven years, the semi-official daily 'Al Ittihad' said.

Two lower courts in the UAE decided to hand him over to authorities in his country, prompting him to appeal with the Federal Supreme Court (FSC).

“The FSC rejected his appeal and ruled that he must be extradited to his home country although he had denied the charges,’ the paper said without giving further details.
