Fake Abu Dhabi cop turns out to be serial child abuser

An Arab who claimed to be a policeman turned out to be a serial child abuser after he tried to molest many children in Abu Dhabi, before he was caught by the police.

The man had posed as a cop, targeting boys aged between 8 and 13, by telling them to stop playing out and go home.

Once the child was in the lift, the man allegedly followed them in the lift and attempted to molest them.

He got away with such acts until a father decided to report him to the police.

“Many families decided not to report the case to the police on the grounds it was not serious. But a father whose little son was the latest victim decided to report him,” the Arabic language daily Al Khaleej said.

“After he was shown photographs of some suspects, the boy identified the culprit, who was later arrested by the police.”

The paper said the man was acquitted by court on the grounds he is sick but an Appeals Court sentenced him to six months in jail and ordered him deported from the UAE.

At the Court of Cassation, his defence lawyer tried again to have him acquitted on the grounds he is sick and is not responsible for his acts and that he must remain with his family in the UAE, but the court upheld the previous sentence.
