Farm workers threaten to kill woman boss

Three Pakistani farm workers threatened to kill their employer if she cancelled the visa of one of them and, in revenge, they stole 15 cattle heads worth Dh9,500 before running away.

KH, 25, who was the cause of the problem, is still at large. His co-worker TG, 33, and driver AD, 27, who defended him and threatened the employer, are being prosecuted and face a sentence of six months in prison before deportation.

On August 27, SH, 67, Emirati housewife, accompanied by her 20-year-old son, went to her farm to check if the shepherd KH had repaired the generator.

“When I found out that he had not repaired it, I warned him that if he does not want to work properly, I will cancel his visa. This was in the presence of the other shepherds and the driver.

“When he heard me, the other shepherds threatened to cause me troubles for me if I did that. The driver also swore that he will beat me up and kill me on the spot if I did that, saying that he is a butcher and that he will kill me like cattle and that he is not scared of the police,” the victim told prosecutors.

The elderly woman got scared of them and left the farm with her son.

On the same day at around 4pm, the shepherd KH called the victim telling her that he had quit his job and asked her to go to the farm to feed her cattle.

“I went with my son to the farm and found out that the gate was closed. Using a spare key, we opened it and got in. There was no one on the farm. Checking the cattle, we discovered that 10 sheep worth Dh7000 and five lambs worth Dh2,500 were missing, so we called the police,” testified the victim.

Her son repeated corroborative testimony, saying that the original keys of the farm were in KH’s possession.

TG and AD are accused of threatening to kill their employer. The two and the fugitive are accused of criminal complicity and of stealing cattle heads.

The three are also accused of breach of trust.

The court will give its verdict on February 21.
