Two Pakistanis allegedly slit their Afghan sponsor’s throat in his bedroom following a financial dispute and stole more than Dh200,000 from his safe, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

At around 4.15am on December 11, 35-year-old MQ, Afghan salesman, who was the victim’s roommate, returned home after spending the night with some friends in a coffee shop.

“When I entered the bed room, I saw FH on the floor between the bed and the wall in a pool of blood. I got very scared and rushed to my friends in the adjacent flat and told them. They rushed to the bedroom which was in a mess with blood stains on the walls and the floor. We called the police,” MQ told investigators.

MQ had left the flat at around 11.30pm, leaving the victim with MF and AA, two men who worked for him, who were doing some accounting work.  According to him, the two workers knew that the victim kept his money in a safe in the flat.  “They were working together and there was no problem at the time I left the flat,” he said.

Police discovered that MF had financial disputes with his employer and that he did not report for work on the next day. Police considered MF as a prime suspect.

Later in the day, police learnt about a Pakistani businessman MA, 35, is a relative of MF, who lived in Sharjah. “Police promptly obtained permission to arrest the relative of the prime suspect. Searching his house, police confiscated about Dh200,000 in addition to $14,080. Asking him about the source of the money, MA admitted that he got the money from his relative who had fought with his sponsor and wounded him with a carton cutting blade before stealing from his house and running away,” Captain Abdul Rahman Salem told investigators.

“On December 11, my relative and another man, whom I did not know before, came to me at around 7.30am. They were in abnormal condition. The other man had wounds on his face. Asking what the problem was, my relative said that he had a fight with his employer and had left him in a pool of blood in his flat. He also told me that they had emptied the safe before running away. He asked me to help him to flee the country to Oman. I suggested to him to leave the money with me as it is difficult to smuggle such a large amount of money. He agreed,” MA said.

“I called MJ, 28, jobless, and asked him to arrange the escape of the two men for Dh5,000 and the latter agreed,” MA told investigators.

Police arrested MJ from his house in Sharjah. He admitted to arranging for the escape of the two men. However, he denied knowing what the problem was. “When I asked them why they want to go to Oman, they told me that they had some problems without giving any details. I did that for money,” MJ told investigators.

While MA was guiding police to the house of MJ, he received a call from his relative MF who asked him for Dh20,000 that he may need during his escape. Police trapped and arrested the two men when they came to MA’s accommodation in the evening to collect the amount.

“I had a fight with our sponsor while I was in his flat doing some accounting work while MM was downloading software on his computer. He blamed me for not registering some mobile phone deals in the records. He abused me, went to the kitchen and attacked me with a blade used for cutting cartons,” MF, who had been working for the victim for eight months, told investigators.

“I was trying to defend myself. MM intervened and tried to stop the fight but our sponsor wounded his face with the blade. MM left us fighting and went to the bathroom to wash his wounds. I pushed our sponsor to the floor and, while trying to control his hand in which he was holding the weapon, the blade passed over his neck and wounded him,” the prime suspect told investigators, denying any intention of killing his sponsor.

When the electronic technician returned from the bathroom, he admitted to seeing his co-worker sitting over his sponsor and cutting his neck.

“Before leaving the flat, MF rushed to the safe box and opened it using the key that the victim kept on the desk.  He emptied the safe and gave me one of the three bundles of money that he took,” AA told investigators, denying any participation in the theft.

Forensic reported that wounds on the hands and the neck of the victim were defensive in nature. The DNA of blood stains removed from the light switches of the bathroom and the hall in addition to the handle of the safe were of both the victim and the technician. Blood stains were also found in the kitchen.

Based on evidences collected from the scene of the crime, Dubai Prosecution was confident that both had attacked their employer, cut his neck and robbed him. The prosecution accused MA, 23, and MJ, 28 of helping the killers to flee.

MA is accused of possessing money with the knowledge that it is derived from murder. The two accused denied the accusation of premeditated murder.

The accused denied all charges when they appeared before the court which will reconvene on May 19.

Housemaid raped by employer

A corporal in the UAE Armed Forces allegedly raped and sodomised his Filipina housemaid in his bed room when they were alone in the house, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 21, at around 3pm while the maid MT was in the kitchen, her employer, SS, 37, returned home from work. He came to her holding his military uniform and asked her to clean it.

“I removed the military emblems and belt from the dress and put it in the washing machine. Then I took the belt and the military emblems and put them in the ironing area. Suddenly, the employer came and dragged me by my hand into his bed room which was near the ironing area and pushed me to the floor near the bed,” the victim told investigators.

Despite the maid’s resistance, SS undressed her and raped and sodomised her. After he finished, he got into the bedroom’s bathroom while she rushed to her room and locked the door.

“After a few minutes, he knocked on my room’s door and apologised in English for what he did. I asked him to leave me alone. Then I heard the starting of the car’s engine. I waited for a few minutes before I opened the door, rushed to the gate and fled,” the maid told investigators.

The maid, who was new to the UAE, took  a bus in which she met a Filipina and asked her about the location of the Philippines consulate. “I headed to the consulate and reported the incident.  The consulate contacted the agency through which I was recruited and an employee came and accompanied me to a hospital for medical check. However, Al Baraha Hospital and Rashid Hospital refused to do the check when they learnt about the rape because in such cases, the check should be done by the police,” said the victim.

The two went  to Qusais Police Station and reported the crime. Policemen accompanied the maid to her employer’s house in Oud Al Muteena. They obtained the necessary permission of the prosecution to raid the house as he had refused to open the door although he was in. Police got into the house and the maid guided them to her employer’s bedroom and pointed at the area near the bed where she was raped. The maid was asked to hand over the clothes she was wearing at the time of the crime.

SS, when confronted by policemen with the maid’s allegation, admitted to the crime. Forensic reported that sperms of the accused were found on the victim’s body.

Chief Prosecutor Mohammed Hassan asked the court to implement stiff penalty against the accused.
