A technician allegedly kicked a student in his face causing him to fall down the stairs of a sports stadium and lose a tooth, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, MK, 17, was watching a rugby match with some friends in a stadium on Dubai-Al Ain road.

“When the match finished, a fight broke out among spectators in the upper seats. When one of them tried to leave the stadium through an exit next to me, he pushed me several times. I turned back to ask him why he was pushing me. He shouted ‘Move away… move away’ while pushing me. When I tried to move, the same person kicked me in my neck and I fell down the stairs unconscious,” the victim told investigators.

SK, 17, the victim’s friend who was accompanying MK, repeated the same testimony, saying that the accused was running down the stairs and pushed his friend three times before kicking his face, causing him to fall down the stairs unconscious and bleeding.

AY, 20, technician, admitted kicking the victim but claimed that he was attempting to calm down his friend who was fighting with the victim’s friend.

“The victim’s friend tried to hold me by my shirt when I intervened to help solve the problem. While I was trying to free myself from his grip, I noticed that the victim was coming towards me and, to prevent him from hurting me, I kicked him in his face and he fell down the stairs,” the accused told investigators.

Forensic reported that the victim sustained one per cent permanent disability as one of his teeth broke.

The Court will issue it sentence on May 13.
