Forged $3,000 bills found in trash can

A Bangladeshi cleaner, who took home and then brought back forged currency notes totaling $3,000 into the UAE, which he claimed to found in a trash can of his company in Dubai, was sentenced to three months in jail.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered AH, 22, to pay a fine of Dh1,000.

In March, AH, arrived in Dubai Airport’s Terminal 3 and was arrested as he possessed forged $100 bills totaling $3,000 in his bag.

The passenger claimed that he found the money in a waste basket in the company where he worked in Dubai. He told investigators that from the appearance of the notes, he thought that they were forged.

He took the money with him when he went home. But he did not use the money in Bangladesh, so he brought it back to the UAE, he said.

Criminal Evidences reported that the notes were forged so well that a non-expert could be deceived.
