Sharjah Police have arrested a gang of three people, including a woman, on the charge of swindling gold jewellery shops by selling them imitation jewellery claimed to be real gold ornmaments.

The gang of Pakistan nationals used forged invoices to convince jewellery shops to buy their stuff, police said.

Police began investigations after receiving complaints from a jewellery shop in Sharjah that a woman had tried to sell them imitation jewellery with the help of apparently genuine bills. When the shop found that the ornaments she was offering were not genuine, the woman had fled the place.

The woman was arrested and a number of chains and bracelets of imitation jewellery were found in her possession.

The woman confessed to the police that she was doing the swindle with the help of two men who were later arrested.

The three member of the group had entered the UAE on visit visas and were staying in a hotel in Sharjah.
