Friend assaults old mate with chopper
A jobless Emirati allegedly attacked a student with a chopper and caused him a deep wound in his upper arm, which led to 10 per cent permanent disability, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
On November 5, MA, a 22-year-old Syrian student received a call from his friend OA.
“OA asked me to meet him, but as it was getting late, I told him that I have to go home. Five minutes later, the student received a call from DP who also asked him to meet because he wanted to talk about a subject that causes him pain. He told me that he is with OA at the parking lot of Crown Plaza hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road,” testified the student.
As the student reached there, DP and OA were standing next to their car.
DP blamed the student for talking about him.
“As I denied that, OA who was holding a knife hit me with it and wounded me. Then other men appeared and all started beating me up. OA pulled the chopper and he hit DP’s hand. Then he hit me again with the chopper and I fell to the ground. All attackers ran away in their car. I called for an ambulance and was rushed to Rashid Hospital,” testified the victim.
Forensic reported that the victim sustained 10 per cent permanent disability because of the deep wound.
Police arrested OA, 22, but the rest attackers are at large.
The court will give sentence on June 29.
