Fujairah teacher gets one month suspended jail for hitting student

A court in Fujairah sentenced an Arab teacher for one month suspended jail and fined him Dh500 on charges of hitting a school boy in class.

The teacher was summoned by court after he was reported by the student’s father who was told by his son he was smacked by his teacher in front of other students.

Newspapers said the teacher confessed to having used his hand in hitting the student, prompting the court to sentence him for a month in jail, suspended for 3 years. It also fined him Dh500 for violating rules banning corporal punishment at schools.
