A Pakistani worker allegedly groped an American woman when he came with others to fix her furniture, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The 24-year-old victim SB told investigators that the accused came to her house to fix the furniture at around 7pm last September.

“He gave me his mobile number and I thought that was to call him if I had any problem with the furniture in future. Then he asked me to give him my mobile number after expressing his admiration for me and proposing a relationship with me. When I refused to give him my phone number, he insisted on continuing to talk to me and threatened to come again to my house if I did not call him.

“Then I sent an SMS to my aunt who lived in the same tower asking her to come immediately to my flat. When I moved to another place in the flat, he followed me and snatched a golden bracelet around my neck. He touched my chest, lips and cheek.

“At this moment my aunt came in and he went and joined the other two workers and they all left. I told my aunt what had happened and she informed my uncle who complained the police on the following day,” SB testified.

When the accused called the victim at 4.30pm on September 2, police asked her to tell him that he had forgotten to fix some piece of furniture. The accused showed up at her flat at 11pm when he was arrested by the police.

The accused admitted to groping the victim in her flat.

The Court will reconvene on November 24.
