A man from another Gulf country is standing trial in Ras Al Khaimah after an Arab girl claimed he tied her up and raped her. The defendant told court he has not touched that woman and that she tried to extort him by demanding Dh200,000 to drop the case.

The unnamed girl said she was in the car with the defendant whom she has known for nearly a month and that he took her to a house in another emirate.

She said that after he had liquor, he tied her arm to the bed and raped her, adding that she informed her sister and asked her to be witness.

But the sister told court she did not know her sister was with the defendant and that she had asked her to opt for an out-of-court settlement.

“The defendant told court that the girl demanded Dh200,000 in return for dropping the case against him and that he had not raped or abduct the girl…he said that she had met him and asked for his friendship,” Emirat Alyoum Arabic language daily said.

It quoted the defenece lawyer as telling court that tests showed the defendant had not raped the girl and that he has evidence she had demanded Dh200,000.

The paper said the judge adjourned hearings to June 12.
