A Bangladeshi guard at a project site allegedly stole, along with three others, including an illegal resident, steel bars worth Dh25,000, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The planning manager of a construction company testified that on July 3, he received a tip off from a person he does not know about the company’s guards selling steel bars of the company and told me that they will do that again on July 5.

“I went to one of the company’s construction sites and saw two men entering the site and five minutes later a pick-up vehicle arrived. The two, with the help of the guards, loaded steel bars used for scaffoldings in the pickup. I called the police and entered the site with some employees and caught three of them while the fourth ran away. Police arrived and arrested the three and the vehicle was seized. The value of the stolen bars is Dh25,000,” he testified.

Police arrested BSA, 32, guard, NMR, 36, worker, and SHM, 35, driver.

The court will issue its verdict on November 27.
