Sharjah Police has arrested three members of a gang that attacked an Arab businessman at gunpoint and robbed a bag containing Dh4 million.

The businessman was walking from his car to a residential tower in which his business partner lived to hand over the money bag to him.

The masked attackers brandished a pistol and beat up the victim with sticks.

Two of the arrested people were Iranians and the third an Afghan.

Police first picked up a suspect who first denied the crime but later admitted that he and five others were involved.

He also admitted that he had taken Dh3.5 million of the robbed money and had hidden it in the balcony of his house in Sharjah. The money was found by the police.

Police later arrested two of his accomplices, one Iranian and the other Afghan.

Three Afghan accomplices had left the country with their share of Dh500,000.

Sharjah Police is seeking Interpol’s help to arrest them.

Sharjah Police will broadcast details of the crime during a radio programme at 7pm on Saturday.
