In an incident that could well be a plot for a Bollywood potboiler an Indian expat in Ajman allegedly hired contract killers to terminate his neighbour because the latter owed him money - a mere Dh2,000.

The goons attacked women of the house and raped one of them. When the noise and scuffle turned ugly the suspect entered the melee with an acid bottle to settle scores, severely burning people gathered as well as two of the attackers.

Krishnakumar Rajeev, 51, a businessman, allegedly had to return Dh2,000 to Rajesh, his neighbour, on January 29, 2012. However, on getting a tip-off that he was leaving the UAE, Rajesh hired goons who broke into Rajeev's home in the early hours of January 25th and attacked residents.

Recalling the incident, Rajeev told 'Emirates24|7': "Now I am  undergoing treatment for severe burn injuries. Three people knocked on my door at 4am on January 25th. I was afraid and did not open the door. But they continued banging and after about 50 minutes they broke opened the front door. One of the men started beating me up and asked me to show my passport. They posed as CID officials. They even attacked my relative and another women. They forced her to take off her clothes and when they began raping her, I hit back. Her cries alerted other neighbours.

"By this time, Rajesh walked in with a can of acid. In the ensuing scuffle the acid spilled over injuring all those in the room. One of the neighbours and a gang member suffered serious burns on their abdomen.

"Meanwhile, the three attackers attempted to flee the scene by jumping out of the first-floor window. Two of them were nabbed by public, who had by then gathered outside the building. One of them broke his leg in the jump. The third gangster managed to escape."

Rajeev said: "Fortunately my face is unscathed. I have filed a complaint with Ajman Police.

The nabbed gang members are currently chained and receving treatment in a hospital. The charges against them include illegal intrusion into a house, attempt to murder and rape and drinking alcohol.

Rajeev is a businessman dealing in construction materials in one of the islands close to Musandam Island.
