A nine-year-old Saudi girl went into a bookshop at a major shopping mall in the Gulf kingdom while her father waited for her at a nearby café.

“When the worker saw her father, he ran away, prompting the father to call the police,” the Arabic language daily Sharq said in a report from the western Red Sea port of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s second largest city.

“After taking his descriptions from the father and his daughter, police began searching for the worker until they finally spotted him outside the mall…they chased him for a long time before catching him.”

“She woke up on the next morning and worked at the man’s house diligently all the day,” Kabar Arabic language daily said.

“In the evening, the man’s wife could not find the maid…when she tried to look in the bathroom, it was locked but she did not answer….they then smashed the door and found the maid hanging by a power cable around her neck.”

Police, who were called to the house, said the body had been sent to the coroner and that they were investigating the incident.

Fake prince arrested in Saudi

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police arrested a local man who impersonated a prince from the Gulf kingdom to embezzle money from many women, mostly school teachers, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice seized the man following reports from several school teachers that he had fooled them to invest in a fake company he owns.

Commission members, recruiting one of his victims, caught the unnamed man while meeting that woman at a restaurant in Riyadh.
“When she gave him money, they were on him…he later confessed to have impersonating a prince and that he collected more than SR125,000 ($33,000) from his victims,” the Arabic language daily Sabq said.
