An Egyptian housewife who used another woman’s driving licence and threatened policemen with sacking if they do not move their vehicle from in front of her house was sentenced one year jail by the Dubai Criminal Court.

NTS, 29, was also ordered deportation after serving her jail term.

According to the records, NTS presented a driving licence belongning to another woman when she was stopped and asked by a police patrol to present her driving licence for security measure at around 3am on August 18.

Corporal Nasib Abbas, testified that as he suspected a Range Rover he checked it and found out that it has 31 traffic violations.

“I signalled the car to stop… I got down and walked towards the driver. I asked her to present her driving licence but she initially refused, arguing that she did not commit a crime. I told her it is just security measures… She presented a driving licence but the picture was not hers. Asking her about another ID document she said she does not have any but the driving licence. At this point, I confronted her that the picture is not hers… she replied that her features have changed.

“I left to the police car and asked for support. Ten minutes later a patrol arrived. Corporal Ahmad Ali asked her directly: Is this dirving licence yours. She answered affirmatively and repeated her claim of changed features when he confronted her about the picture.”

The woman got off her car and told the two corporals: “Leave the driving licence with you and I will show you.” Then she got into her car and drove away at high speed, he testified.

The two corporals followed her in their cars until she reached Al Wasl area and got into the garage of her villa.

Corporal Nasib arrived first and stopped the police car in front of the villa. She stepped out and asked him to remove the car and if he did not she will fire him and that she will bring the issue to the Dubai Police Chief.

While she was threatening corporal Nasib, Corporal Ahmad arrived… heard the threat and saw her kicking the police car.

She then drove her car out of the garage and tried to hit the police car… someone got out from the villa and calmed her down. At this time, Major Mane arrived and asked her to come to the police station.

Corporal Ahmad Ali also repeated the same testimony.
