I am my dead brother: Crazy claim to get property
An Iranian collected compensation for a demolished building in Satwa that belonged to his deceased brother, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Tuesday.
He allegedly forged his brother's death certificate and claimed to be the owner of the house that was demolished by the municipality.
Sixty-two-year-old RMQ, a jobless man, also roped in two witnesses to alter the documents at the Iranian Consulate claiming to be the owner of the demolished house. Later, he allegedly submitted the same to the Land Department and pocketed the grant by the government.
The issue came to light when the daughter of the deceased grew suspicious of RMQ's request for her father's death certificate. Shortly later she arrived in Dubai along with her husband to check on her father's financial status.
To her shock, she learnt that the house in Satwa that was alloted to her father in August 1967 was demolished by the municipality and her uncle was compensated for the same by the government.
However, the land is not listed in the municipality's list of compensated property.
The accused confessed to impersonating as his dead brother at the Iranian Consulate and producing two fake witnesses for the same. he admitted to receiving government compensation for the demolished house, too.
