Iraqi MP faces investigation on issuing bad cheque

Essam Eisa Al Humaidan, Dubai’s Attorney-General, has said the Iraqi Member of Parliament (MP), Mohammed al-Taei, was detained on charges of issuing a bad cheque worth Dh7 million.

This is punishable under the Article 401 of the penal code, he added.

Humaidan said on 26th October, the accused was interrogated by the public prosecution in the presence of his lawyer. He added that al-Taei was remanded in custody pending further investigation as per the legal procedures in this respect.
