A jobless Pakistani allegedly obtained 12 SIM cards using forged documents and made telephone calls for Dh1.3 million in one month, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MA, 23, told an Etisalat employee that he is seeking a number of SIM cards for his company’s employees. He attached with the SIM card applications salary certificates on the company’s letterhead in addition to copies of passports and labour cards of the staff who had valid residence visas. He was issued 12 SIM cards.

When the bills of the SIM cards reached Dh1,273,852, Etisalat contacted the company’s owner MI who denied that the SIM card holders were his employees..

Checking the documents with the Ministry of Labour and DNRD, it was proved that the salary certificates, passport copies and residence visa copies and labour cards were all forged.

The accused, who had been convicted for another similar crime and was sentenced to three months in last May, has admitted to this crime too.

The Court will give its verdict on October 27.
