Kidnap drama by 'CID officers' ends in fiasco

Three Indians allegedly kidnapped two Pakistanis from their house because their roommate had not bought them a car with the Dh30,000 that they had paid him.

Impersonating CID officers, the three, aged between 23 and 29, came to the roommate’s house in Dubai’s Abu Hail area and asked for ‘Ali’ to whom they had paid the money.

“Ali left the house ten days ago and went to Ras Al Khaimah,” replied Ali’s roommate BM.

The ‘CID officers’ then hit BM and DH when they asked them about their identity. The ‘officers’ flashed their ID cards and beat BM and DH.

The ‘CID officers’then dragged BM and DH out of the house and pushed them into their car and drove them to Ras Al Khaimah where they confined them in a room after taking their mobile phones.

BM told them that he will arrange for Dh4,000, so the kidnappers allowed him to talk on the mobile phone with one of his roommates.

“I asked my roommate BA to collect Dh4,000 from a person and to hand them over to a person when he receives a phone call. The roommate collected the amount and handed it over to one of the kidnappers,” testified BM.

They later asked for Dh24,000 and BM called BA and asked him to arrange the amount. BA notified the police who gave him the money and caught an accomplice of the kidnappers red handed.

Learning about the arrest of their accomplice, the kidnappers drove the two men they had confined to Dubai, asking them to drop the police complaint against them.

BM and DH entered a police station and notified the police. Police arrested all who were in the car.

The court will give its verdict on June 25.
