Maid dumps dead infant in garbage shaft in RAK

Municipality dustmen stumbled across a dead infant inside a garbage bin in Ras Al Khaimah and police said it belongs to an absconding housemaid who was arrested later, newspapers reported on Sunday.

The infant, who was found inside a plastic bag in the main bin, had been thrown by the maid through the building’s garbage shaft.

“The baby belongs to a housemaid who was working illegally for a family in that building…she got rid of her infant and fled but she was arrested later in Sharjah,” said Brigadier Abdullah al Hadidi, director RAK police operations.

He said police had already sent out a report on that maid for absconding from her employer, adding that families who give jobs to such workers would be punished.
