Man caught with 'drugs in shoe'...

An Asian man accused of trying to smuggle drugs in a shoe told court in Abu Dhabi that the shoe belongs to a friend and that he did not know it contained narcotics.

The man was arrested at Abu Dhabi airport after a scan showed cocaine was concealed inside a shoe in his bag.

“He told the judge that a friend gave the shoe to him and asked him to give it to a man in the UAE. He said that he did not know the shoe contained drugs,” the semi-official daily 'Al Ittihad' said, adding that hearings were adjourned to May 12.
