A Jordanian who was wanted by several authorities presented a valid driving licence of a compatriot on demand by the police but that did not help him to avoid arrest.

Dubai Prosecution has charged AIA, 28, with using a valid driving licence of his compatriot MAS and presenting it when he was stopped by a patrol of the Naif police station.

Captain Mohammed Saeed testified that he stopped the accused and asked him for his ID.

“He submitted a driver’s licence issued by Sharjah Police that belonged to MAS but as the picture was not clear, I accompanied him to the police station to check his ID.

“The picture of the driver’s licence holder in the traffic police records was not of the accused. When confronted, he admitted to using another person’s driving licence which he kept with the aim of replacing the picture since it was not clear. He admitted that he was wanted by other authorities,” testified the officer.

The court will issue its sentence on March 28.
