Man found dead on pavement in front of a Dubai hospital

A dead man was found on the pavement in front of a hospital in Al Garhoud area due to drugs overdose.

On March 6, at around 3.30am, a police patrol received information about a man lying dead on the pavement in front of a hospital in Al Garhoud area, the Dubai Criminal Court was told in a hearing on Thursday.

“On questioning the security staff at the hospital, we were told that a man, who was accompanying the dead man, went into the hospital to call police while his colleague was busy parking the car. We arrested MM, 32, Sudanese student, and AM, 18, Emirati soldier. One was hiding behind the hospital while the other was standing near a supermarket,” testified Sergeant Yaqoub Abdullah in the court hearing.

The two were taken to the Anti-Narcotics Department for blood tests where they proved positive. While the man on the pavement was pronounced dead.

Police expected that the death was caused by the overdoes of drugs, testified Second Lieutenant Khalifa from Anti-Narcotics Department in the hearing.

Investigations revealed that the two accused, whose bloods tests proved positive to morphine, tramadol and other types of drugs, had offered drugs free of charge to the victim.

The court will announce its verdict on August 18.
