An Egyptian employee allegedly conned an Emirati doctor of Dh11,000 by forging a trade licence for her, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

AM, 30, an Emirati doctor, met the accused AK, 37, an Egyptian in a Tas’heel centre in 2014.

AK, offered his services to the doctor and told her that he had an office for transaction clearance with all government departments.

Six months later, the doctor contacted AK to get a licence in partnership with a SB, 48, Tunisian hairdresser.

He presented a booking document to the two women and charged them Dh11,000 in fees. The women paid him the amount in cash in the presence of her partner and one of her employees.

On March 18, the accused sent the victims a photocopy of trade licence via WhatsApp .

The doctor checked with the department and found out that the licence was forged.

The victim lodged a complaint with the police who arranged with her to arrest the accused.

The doctor called the accused and asked him to hand her the licence against paying him the fees.

The accused was arrested after he handed her a photocopy of the licence.

AK claimed that he received the licence picture from the doctor’s partner and so he sent it to the doctor.

The Tunisian hairdresser told the police that she had received the picture from the accused similarly as he sent it to the doctor.

Police checked the mobile of the accused and found out out that he sent the picture of the forged licence to the doctor.

The Department of Economic Development reported that on February 17, 2015, a provisional commercial name was booked.

This transaction is free of charge, according to the records.

The transaction was cancelled electronically after a gap of six months.

It was confirmed reported that no licence was issued by the department.

The court will reconvene on July 3.
