Man slits throat of compatriot with bottle

A Pakistani man allegedly slit the neck of his compatriot by a broken bottle of soft drink, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MA, 25, Egyptian, was at a petrol station near a hotel when he saw two men fighting and then one of them ran behind the hotel. Then he saw one of them get into the station’s mart and bought two bottles of Barbican. He then ran behind the hotel.

"I called the police as I expected serious problem. After a while, the man who bought the bottles turned to the station, took a taxi and disappeared," testified the motorist who went behind the hotel and saw the victim lying on the floor bleeding.

Police arrested SH, 31, who said that he got out from the hotel's club following an argument with a Pakistani.

Then he went to the toilet and at the hotel's entrance hew saw his compatriot 'Bilal' was assaulted by a number of men.

"I rushed out to the station and bought to barbicans and gave one to ‘Bilal’ and left one with me after breaking it and chased those who were attacking him behind the hotel.

The two could catch the victim. Bilal hit him with the bottle on his head while SH stabbed him with the bottle before running away from the scene.

Bilal however, denied any participating in the crime.

Later SH denied that Bilal participated in the crime.

Other two involved in the fight testified that they saw SH slit the victim's neck.

CCTV footage captured the accused stabbing the victim.

In court SH denied the charges and the court will reconvene on May 3.
