Man stabs friend for touching his cheek in Kalba

An Asian man in the eastern port of Kalba stabbed his friend in the chest after the other touched his cheek, which he considered an insult.

Police arrested the attacker after the stabbed man was admitted to the intensive care unit with serious injuries in the chest.

“He told police that he stabbed his friend because he touched his cheek…he said that he had warned him many times not to do this because he considers it an insult,” the semi-official daily Al Ittihad said.

Woman killed by car on Fujairah-Khorfakkan Road

 A 34-year-old Bangladeshi woman died after she was knocked over by a speeding car on the road between Fujairah and Khorfakkan.

Police blamed both the woman and the driver as she did not use the pedestrian crossing to walk to the other side of the road.

“The woman did not make sure the road was clear and the motorist was driving fast on that road…she died on impact instantly,” Al Khaleej daily said, quoting a police source.
