Man threatens to kill former business partner and her children

A Jordanian businessman allegedly threatened to kill his former business partner and her children if she did not pay him his share of profits, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
Owners of a real estate brokerage bought the share of the accused MH, 47, following some problems he caused with some clients.
EM, 46-year-old Syrian manager, told police that after discovering financial problems, business relationship with MH was ended.
“After the settlement, in February, MH attempted to assault me inside the company’s office. I lodged a complaint with Dubai Police and he was arrested. Later I dropped my complaint. On May 17, MH called me and asked me to meet him in a restaurant down the tower where the company is located for an important matter and claimed seeking reconciliation,” EM told investigators.
The manager went down together with her business partner, BH, 34, Syrian. The accused asked EM to pay him his share of profit.
“When I refused because BH is also a partner and he would not accept that, he threatened to kill me and my children. He said that he when he was in America, he had worked for the mafia and that he did not have anything to lose if he killed me. He showed me the scar of a gunshot in his leg to prove that he was a mafia member. I left the place with my partner,” EM told investigators.
Two days later when EM was out of the country, a company staffer met the accused down the tower.
One of the company’s staff, MF, told his boss that he had met the accused who cynically asked him why he is growing a beard.
“One day, I will finish her. Then time you can mourn and grow a beard,” MF reported the accused as telling him when he was smoking down the tower.
EM also told investigators that around that time, her daughter was approached by a woman while she was walking at Al Mamzer near her home.
“My daughter was shocked when a woman she did not know called her by her name and asked her to accompany her to her house to meet her daughters. My daughter got scared and ran to the house,” EM told the police.
On July 3, Syrian business partner BH received a phone call from the accused who told him that EM is living in fear and what is coming next would me more horrible. After this call, EM reported the threats to the police.
BH made corroborative testimony and said that the accused had asked EM to pay him Dh250,000, claiming it as his share of profit. He also claimed that he had signed a cheque to someone and that person had sued him for bad cheque and he wanted to settle that case.
“In front of me, he threatened to kill EM and her children,” BH told investigators.
NT, another company staffer, told investigators that the accused had called him on July 3 and told him that EM had not seen anything yet and that the next hard hit will come very soon.
The court will reconvene on November 4.
