Dubai’s criminal court is trying a 21-year-old man for trying to murder another man who molested two girls at a cinema in the emirate.

The defendant had told court one of the girls is his sister but police investigation found she is not related to him and that he stabbed the other man when he saw him trying to molest the two girls in the cinema’s car park.

The victim told court he was stabbed three times in his abdomen and back and was admitted to hospital for one month, adding that he was with his friend in the park when the defendant suddenly attacked him.

But an eyewitness said he saw the two girls and that the defendant gave them the knife after stabbing that man and told them to hide it.

“When police summoned the two girls, they found that they are not related to the defendant…the prosecutor charged the defendant of attempted premeditated murder,”  'Emarat Al Youm' Arabic language daily said without identifying the cinema or those involved in the case.
