An Indian businessman allegedly cancelled the labour card of a compatriot manager after selling his share in a factory to an Egyptian, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On August 28, 2013, MM, 39, Egyptian bought, along with others, shares of MS and others in a glass factory.

After signing the deal, MM went ahead with formalities at the Economic Department to change the names of the factory’s owners.

“I finished the formalities on February 2, 2014. Checking the names of the employees, I noticed that the sponsorship of the manager, PP, was cancelled by MS after the deal was signed,” testified the Egyptian.

He checked with the Labour Ministry and found out that MM signed and sealed with the factory’s stamp the application for cancellation of manager’s labour card.

The Egyptian lodged a forgery complaint against MS.

The 43-year-old manager testified that he had resigned from the factory in 2013 for non-payment of salary and had asked MS to cancel his visa.

“In December 2013, MS signed on a visa cancellation application which was submitted to the Labour Ministry. I got my visa cancelled and moved to work in another factory,” testified the manager.

Dubai Prosecution supplied the court with the forged labour card cancellation application submitted to the Labour Ministry.

The court will reconvene on March 27.
