An Arab man is on trial in Ras Al Khaimah on charges of making an obscene gesture with his hand to another man while driving next to each other.

The other driver told police that the man swore at him before opening his car window and making an obscene signal with his hand.

The defendant admitted to having made that signal but denied swearing at that driver, saying he had done so after the driver annoyed him on the road.

Stolen credit card used to pay fines

Abu Dhabi police arrested an Arab man accused of using a stolen credit card to pay traffic fines online, newspapers said on Wednesday.

The man confessed that he paid traffic fines for many drivers in return for a 10-15 per cent commission with the help of a friend who resides outside the UAE.

He said his friend used stolen visa cards while he supplied information on traffic fines by drivers, who paid the commission plus 60 per cent of the fine.

The defendant said he was remitting part of the profits to his friend.

Jail for trying to bribe cop

A court in Fujairah sentenced two Arab men to six months in prison after they were convicted of trying to bribe a police man to help one of them leave the UAE.

The police man had told court that the two offered him Dh4,000 in return for helping one defendant who is staying in the UAE illegally to leave the country through a border point at Dibba Al Hosn near Oman.
