Over three weeks after 51-year-old Dubai Filipina businesswoman was found murdered in her car in Sharjah, her family may finally get to take her home to Philippines.

Talking to Emirates 24|7, Lorna Lim Varona’s youngest daughter Liza confirmed, “When we went to Sharjah yesterday, they told us that it might take another two days for the autopsy report. And, once we get that, we can bring mom home.”

The date of Lorna’s final journey home is, however, not finalised.

The reason being the need for more paper work and clearance.

“After we get the report, we need to give it to the Philippines embassy and the banks. So, there is still more paper work to be done.

“Our last step will be to book the air tickets.”

Even, the date of the funeral service in Philippines will be decided only after the tickets are booked.

“Since we don’t know when we can fly out, the date of her funeral service is still not decided.

"My brothers are in Philippines and they have already arranged for the funeral service at the Holy Trinity Church, near their home in Philippines.

“They are just waiting for the clearance.”

Only last week Lorna’s family were allowed to see her body.

“For the first time, since we heard the news of her death, we saw her,” Liza had narrated.

“I keep on remembering what happened to her. I still see her. She’s always on my mind.”

Liza added that they’ve grown closer as a family since the tragedy.

“We (her sister and her) are always together. Whenever I am having a hard time I get strength from them.”

The day after the family saw her body, they had offered prayers in Lorna’s memory at the St Mary’s Church.

Lorna is survived by her husband, and four children – Lourdes, Luke, Louis and Liza.

She was reported missing on August 26.

The Sharjah Police discovered her body, stuffed in a bag, in her abandoned Jaguar in Sharjah’s industrial area nearly a week later.

She was allegedly murdered by her “close friend” over borrowed money amounting to Dh250,000.

The Filipino has since been arrested.
