Not cool: AC engineer gropes female colleague

A 55-year-old electrical engineer groped his female colleague after showing her how to restart the air conditioner if it fails when he is away, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, EN, 28, Filipina clerk, testified that on Friday January 11, she had lunch with a co-worker in a room in the office.

“My friend left as her break was over. I took rest for some time. Electrical engineer KLT was repairing the AC. He asked me to bring him the key of the AC room and to go with him to the AC room to show me how to restart it if it fails to work when he was away.

“I went with him and he showed me how to do it. When I was about to leave the room, he hugged me and pulled me towards him. Then he put both his hands around my neck and kissed my forehead and tried to kiss my lips. I pushed his face to prevent him from kissing me and left the room.

“I told a security officer what happened and on the next day the matter was reported to the manager who asked me to file a complaint with the police,” she testified.

The security officer CF, 36, Filipina repeated EN’s testimony, saying: “EN took from the key of the electric room and came back to me looking scared and told me that the engineer had groped her.”

The court will reconvene on April 8.
