Observant maid used employer's ATM number

A Filipina maid who stole and used her employer’s credit card was sentenced to three months in jail followed by deportation by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

The Yemeni employer of the 37-year-old maid was surprised when she received a message while she was at a petrol pump from the bank about the withdrawal of Dh1,000 from her account, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

“I was at around 1pm on October 4 at a petrol station on Al Wasl Road when I received a message from the bank informing me about the withdrawal of Dh1,000 from my account. I checked with the bank which informed me after a week that the withdrawal had been done from an ATM near my house.

“I suspected the maid LM. When I confronted her, she admitted to stealing my ATM. She had accompanied me several times when I withdrew money from the ATM while sitting in the car. She had observed me and knew the secret number,” testified RA,  the 25-year-old employer.
