Officials seize ‘drug bouquet’ at Dubai Airport

Officials from the Ministry of Environment and Water have seized a shipment of cut flowers at Dubai Airport which had poppy seeds mixed with the flowers.

Sultan Abdullah bin Alwan, Undersecretary, Ministry of Environment and Water,  said that its inspectors seized the shipment in collaboration with the Dubai Customs Authority.

He said that all types of poppy flowers and seeds are banned in the state and added that the list of banned plants is regularly updated in coordination with competent authorities.

Import of cut flowers requires a prior import permit that ensure conformity to specifications and requirements of the Ministry of Environment and Water, he added.
