The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced a cleaner to one year in jail for assaulting a woman at a Dubai metro station.
The convict, MS, 30, Bangladeshi was also ordered to be deported after serving his jail term.
On April 27, the accused entered the ladies restroom at Jebel Ali Metro station and attacked a woman using the facility.
He sexually assaulted her before she could release herself from his grip.
The victim, DR, Indian, was in the washroom when all of a sudden the accused appeared. He rushed towards her and groped her.
He pushed her so hard that she fell on the floor, he then jumped on her and held her by the neck.
The victim managed to release herself from his grip and ran out of the washroom shouting for help.
The victim sustained scratches in her neck and chest.
The attacker was arrested and accused of physical assault and sexual abuse in addition to entering an area that is allocated for women.
The Dubai Prosecution had asked the court to implement stiffest penalty against the accused.
