Over 14,000 fake products seized in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi authorities seized more than 14,000 fake products in local markets in the third quarter of 2011 within an ongoing crackdown against counterfeit items, the semi official daily Alittihad said on Sunday.

The nearly 14,700 products were seized during raids on shops and other marketing outlets in the emirate by inspectors from the Department of Economic Development (DED), the paper said.

The impounded products included around 13,846 auto spare and accessory parts, 546 clothing and footwear items, 96 cosmetic products, 156 food and tobacco items, and more than 60 electronics and mobile phones.
