Over 45,000 offenders benefit from RAK fines cut

More than 45,000 drivers benefited from a 50 per cent reduction in traffic fines announced by the northern emirate to encourage offenders to pay their dues and to comply with traffic rules, according to police.

The deadline for the lower fines ended on Thursday, during which nearly 1,700 drivers packed RAK’s traffic centres to pay their fines.

“There was a rush by drivers to pay their fines as the reduction has encouraged them to come and pay all their dues,” said Brigadier Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim, director of the police central operations in RAK.
