Passenger tried to smuggle drug in his shoes

Abu Dhabi airport customs authorities seized a passenger as he tried to smuggle hashish inside his shoes, a newspaper said on Tuesday.

Customs men suspected the passenger who had arrived from another Arab country and used sophisticated systems to detect the stuff, Alittihad said.

“They found 18.9 gm of hashish stuffed in five plastic bags concealed in an expert way inside his shoes,” it said without identifying the man and the country of origin.
