Police nab five people for robbing taxi driver

Ajman Police arrested five people of African origin for robbing a taxi driver and threatening him with knives.

Ajman Police operations room was tipped off by an anonymous caller about five African men threatening a cab driver at knife point.

Police reached the crime scene within minutes only to see the five accused fleeing towards a nearby residential area. A building under construction was cordoned off and the men were surrounded and arrested, despite showing resistance.

Liuetenant Abdulla Saif Al Matrooshi, Director of Criminal Investigation in Ajman Police said explained that the five accused confessed to the crime.

The accused have been transferred to the public prosecution to complete the legal proceedings against them.

Almatrooshi called on taxi drivers to take caution, and constantly communicate with the parent company, to report any abuse on the job, especially after dark.
