RAK seizes 62 vehicles in traffic crackdown

Ras Al Khaimah Police have seized dozens of vehicles following an inspection campaign for violating traffic laws in the emirate.

The Department of Traffic at Ras Al Khaimah Police seized 62 vehicles for driving without licence, having higher proportion of colouring glass windows, non-renewal of vehicle licence, reckless driving, rigging number plates and numerous other violations.

Brigadier Ghanem Ahmed Ghanem, Director-General of Central Operations at RAK Police said this campaign is launched to implement strategy of the Ministry of Interior which aims at gaining the highest level of security and traffic safety on the roads and protecting road users and reducing traffic accidents.

He explained that the purpose of launching this awareness campaign was to educate drivers and parents about the dangers of traffic accidents and excessive speed; police also offer some tips and hints to drivers for their safety.
