Rebuffed suitor kidnaps girl and wreaks havoc

A Gulf man who was rebuffed by the family of the girl he wants to marry poured his wrath on her, beating her up and kidnapping her in Dubai in the middle of the day before fleeing when she screamed for a policeman.

Passersby had thought it could be part of a film being shot in the emirate or even the candid camera when the man jumped on the girl as she stepped out of her office in Deira. Only then they could realize it was real when he battered her before pushing the girl into her car and drove her away.

The 24-year-old man, a government employee in Dubai, was so furious and confused that he rammed into four cars and still would not stop. Finally, the car came to a standstill after suffering from tyre damage.

He then waved for a taxi, dragged the crying girl by hair and pushed her in, telling the cab driver that she is his wife and that they have a dispute.

Apparently believing him, the driver agreed to take them despite the continuous screams of the girl. Once they were inside the tunnel near the Dubai general police headquarters, the car was caught in the traffic jam.

“The girl thought it was her chance when she saw a traffic police man…she opened the window and began screaming to him…as the police man headed towards her, the Gulf man jumped out and ran away,” Alittihad daily said.

It did not identify the man but said he was seized two hours later and quoted Deira deputy prosecutor Yousuf Fouladh as saying the man has been charged of threatening a human life, physical attack, kidnapping, and damaging four cars.
