The tragedy of the soft-spoken Indian doctor who was found murdered in an Abu Dhabi hospital last week has taken a more dramatic turn, as reports emerge that the accused waited for police at the hospital after committing the crime.

The 46-year-old Pakistani not only confessed to the crime, but also gave an explanation for committing the crime.

According to Abu Dhabi Police, he was under the treatment of urologist Dr Rajan Daniel for the past 25 days and was not happy with his progress.

And so he decided to confront the doctor on the fateful day. They had some altercations before he allegedly pulled out the knife and stabbed the doctor several times in the abdomen, neck and other parts of the body.

His body was later found lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

Lieutenant Juma Al Kaabi said the police reached the scene of the crime immediately after receiving a call from the hospital and arrested the accused who had not left the hospital. The knife used in the murder, which was purchased from a grocery store for the purpose, was also found, though the accused attempted to hide it in a drawer.

Preliminary investigation indicates that it was a premeditated murder, he added.

Abu Dhabi Police have referred the accused to psychiatrists to determine his mental condition at the time of the murder.
